An Admin clerk and three civilians have been arrested in Mthatha on charges of corruption and fraud.
The suspects aged between 24 and 50 were arrested on Thursday for allegedly soliciting money from desperate members of the public who wanted to certify documents, by not standing in the queue.
Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sipokazi Mawisa says it is alleged that the civilians would offer to stand in the queue on behalf of the complainants and then solicit money with the promise of taking their documents directly to an admin clerk.
She says once the clerk certifies the document, another undisclosed amount of cash will be demanded.
The suspects are due in court on Monday.
