An employee of the Amatole District Municipality (ADM) has been shot dead outside his home in Amalinda.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, says the 38-year-old man was shot in his driveway on Wednesday night by an unknown suspect.
He says the circumstances around the murder is not yet known.
No arrests have been made and the name of the deceased has not yet been released.
The deceased was also a member of the Independent Municipal Trade Union, according to Imatu's Eastern Cape manager Churchill Mothapo.
ADM is expected to issue a statement in due course.
