Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has fired acting AbaThembu King, Prince Azenathi Dalindyebo.
Mabuyane has informed the former King of his decision to terminate his acting responsibility for the Abathembu Kingdom, via an official letter.
This means Azenathi’s father, AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo returns to his throne.
Mabuyane says his decision is in line with the relevant and applicable legislation regulating such processes and decisions.
He says the government has engaged all relevant members of the royal family on the matter.
The King was jailed in 2015 to an effective 12 years after being found guilty of arson, assault, kidnapping and culpable homicide.
In December Dalindyebo was released from prison after President Cyril Ramaphosa granted a special remission of sentence.
