Abathembu King arrested in Mthatha

The Abathembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has been arrested.

Police Spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana confirmed to Algoa FM News that a 55-year-old man was arrested on Friday morning in Bumbane in Mthatha.

He says the Acting King Azenathi Dalindyebo laid a charge of assault by threats and malicious damage to Property at the Bityi Police Station.

Kinana says the circumstances around the incident will be investigated and once charged, the suspect will be brought before the Bityi Magistrates Court.

The King was jailed in 2015 to an effective 12 years after being found guilty of arson, assault, kidnapping and culpable homicide.

In December Dalindyebo was released from prison after President Cyril Ramaphosa granted a special remission of sentence.
