Six men are expected to appear in court this week following their arrest in St Francis Bay for possession of abalone.
Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says, local detectives received information about suspected abalone poachers in the area and a description of their vehicle with its registration number was furnished.
She says police spotted the vehicle on Tuesday evening and monitored its movements throughout the night.
Captain Govender says their investigations led them to a house at Malema Village where six suspects were arrested in possession of diving equipment and three large bags containing over three hundred and twenty units of abalone with a street value of ± R18, 000.
The suspects are between the ages of 26 and 45.
