The Automobile Association says all grades of fuel will be cheaper in October, with 95 unleaded petrol set to drop by 33 cents a litre and diesel by a whopping 93 cents a litre.
Paraffin is set to drop by 78 cents.
Commenting on unaudited month-end fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund, the AA said the rand had performed erratically again the dollar this month, dipping as low as 16.10 but then weakening to nearly 17.20.
The AA noted that the Rand's weakening profile was mirrored in strengthening international petroleum product prices.
The AA says the trends since early August have been stronger for the Rand and cheaper for oil.
It says motorists should continue to be wary given the ongoing instability in both the local and global economies.
