The Hawks in the Eastern Cape are searching for three prisoners who escaped from lawful custody in East London's Sada prison a month ago.
Hawks spokesperson Lwando Zenzile says the trio were part of a gang of six who overpowered officials from correctional services on the 14th of August before forcing them into an office and ordering them to take off their uniforms.
The group then stole keys to a state vehicle, dressed up as officers and drove out of the correctional facility.
Zenzile says three men have already been re-arrested.
He says 33-year-old Lundi Mzimkhulu and two others are still at large.
According to the Hawks, it is the second time Mzimkhulu has escaped from lawful custody.
Mzimkhulu and two accomplices were on the run for two weeks before being re-arrested on the 25th of March this year.
Barely five months later he escaped from an East London prison again and is still at large.
