The George Arts Theatre will receive a major face-lift thanks to a new partnership with Oakhurst Insurance Company.
The partners say the restoration of the theatre will turn the former George Arts Theatre into a premier performing arts venue.
The chairperson of the George Society of Arts, Heather Stead, explains how the partnership, announced on Tuesday, will help to achieve this vision.
"Through Oakhurst’s generous contributions, as an organisation, we will be able to fulfil our vision of becoming a vibrant theatre in the heart of the Southern Cape. Our aim is to attract a diverse creative arts programme in one of the last remaining independent Amateur Dramatic Society owned theatres in South Africa.” says Stead
Oakhurst Insurance managing director, Peter Grindlay, says they're proud to support organisations that do great work in communities.
He told Algoa FM News that one of their priorities is to promote Arts and Culture in George.
"Our commitment to the George Arts Theatre not only confirms our investment in the growth of arts and culture, but also demonstrates our support in nurturing and broadening the appeal of the arts within the community. We are proud to support organisations that do great work within our communities.” says Grindlay.
The grand opening of the first phase of the Oakhurst Insurance Geoge Arts Theatre, is scheduled for June.
