Port Elizabeth police are searching for at least four suspects who hijacked a liquor delivery truck on Friday and made off with 800 crates of beer valued at more than R100 000.
Captain Andre Beetge said the driver told police that he and his four assistants were held up at gunpoint at around 7 am as they were about to make a delivery in Walmer Township.
He said they were forced into a blue Toyota Quantum mini-bus and forced to lie down inside the vehicle.
"Their cell phones were taken and the suspects then drove around with them for about an hour before letting them out of the vehicle in a bushy area near Despatch," he said.
Beetge said their cellphones were later returned to them and they were left unharmed in the bushes.
He said police were alerted and the hijacked truck was found at around 10 am in General Dundas Street in Zwide.
Police are appealing to anyone who could assist the investigation to contact their nearest police station or call 08600 10111.
