An 8-year-old boy from Thembalethu in George has become the tragic victim of a violent domestic dispute between his mother and her boyfriend.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man for the murder of Imange Jantjies on Thursday in an informal settlement.
Spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie said a couple arrived at the Thembalethu Community Service Centre on Thursday night to report the suspect had killed his girlfriend’s son.
He said SAPS members were immediately dispatched to his house.
“Upon entry members made the gruesome discovery of the boy who had already succumbed to multiple injuries to the body,” he said.
A knife, believed to be the alleged murder weapon, was also confiscated as part of the investigation.
The suspect will appear in court on Monday on a charge of murder.
Pojie said Eden Cluster Commander, Major-General Oswald Reddy said SAPS will be opposing any bail application brought by the suspect.
