Swartkops police have opened an inquest docket following the tragic drowning of a 5-year-old boy in a swimming pool in Bluewater Bay in Gqeberha.
Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart says Ayanda Peter was playing with a ball in their yard in Yale Road late on Saturday afternoon when his 11-year-old sister noticed him lying at the bottom of the pool.
She says she dived into the water to try and save him, but he was already dead.
Captain Swart says it is alleged that the child may have went into the pool to fetch his ball when he drowned.
