An 18 year old teenager has been arrested for the murder of 17 year-old Travino Skosana in a gang-related shooting in Bethelsdorp in Port Elizabeth's gang-ridden Northern Areas.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the fatal shooting took place in Arcadia, Bethelsdorp, at about a quarter to six on Saturday evening.
Colonel Naidu says Skosana was in the company of a group of men near a Cash and Carry Supermarket in Rensburg Street when the shooting occurred.
Skosana sustained several gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Two other young men, aged 22 and 23, also sustained gunshot wounds and are recovering in hospital.
Colonel Naidu says that shortly after the incident, the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit arrested a teenager at his house in Jenniker Street.
He is detained on a charge of murder and two charges of attempted murder and is due to appear in court on Monday.
