Finally, the 16th annual Algoa FM Bloodline Day proved to be an enormous success.
The Eastern Cape and George Blood Donor Centers managed to collect 1127 units of blood in one day.
Elize Scheepers, the head of marketing at the SA National Blood Service, says this was the most units of blood collected in one day, far surpassing the day's target of 901 units.
"My message to the public is to say thank you thank you and thank you. You have supported us more than we could of ever imagined. This is just a very good example of how people stand together and support a worthy cause like blood donations. It's nice to now know there is enough blood stock for patients who really need it." says Scheepers
