Port Elizabeth police have arrested 164 suspects in weekend crime prevention operations.
Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu says the operations were held in Motherwell, KwaZakhele, KwaDesi and New Brighton.
Taverns were visited and the unlicensed ones were closed.
Gwavu says the suspects were arrested for various crimes, including assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, murder, possession of drugs, robberies, drunken driving, theft, possession of stolen property, domestic violence and dealing in mandrax and dagga.
All the suspects, aged between 18 and 67 years will appear in New Brighton and Motherwell magistrate courts on Monday.
