Uitenhage police are investigating a murder case, after a 24-year old Ethiopian was shot dead in a spaza shop in Kamesh on Saturday evening.
Spokesperson, WO Basil Seekoei says three men entered the shop, and enquired from a 26-year old Malawian about the price of cigarettes.
He says an argument ensued, and the Ethiopian came from the back of the shop armed with a panga to defend the Malawian.
Seekoei says one of the suspects pulled out a firearm, and shot the Ethiopian in the chest.
He died at the scene.
Seekoei says police expect to make an arrest soon.
