Six people, including a four-month-old baby, were killed in a head-on collission near Mthatha in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Lt-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela says nine others were injured and taken to hospital.
He says speeding was believed to be the cause of the crash.
Fatyela says the driver of a bakkie lost control of the vehicle, veered from his lane and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Earlier on Saturday, four people were killed on the R72 between East London and Port Alfred.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Tsepo Machaya says 5 vehicles were involved.
