The trial of the century has wrapped up in the circuit court at Fairfax Virginia, USA.
After six weeks of dirty laundry being aired, the jury deliberated for three days to reach their unanimous verdict on Wednesday.
Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation following an Op-Ed she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018 where she referred to herself as a victim of domestic abuse.
Heard countersued Depp for $100 million for calling her a liar.
The jury consisted of five men and two women and found in favour of Johnny Depp, awarding him damages of $15 million.
Although the jury found mostly in favour of Depp, they also awarded Amber Heard damages of $2 million for a defamatory statement made by Depp's former attorney in an article in the Daily Mail.
Depp was not present at Wednesday's ruling.
The Law and Crime Network that covered the trial online shared a statement from Depp's legal team shortly after the outcome.
Depp said the jury gave him his life back after a six-year struggle.
Heard in turn issued a statement to express her disappointment and what it means for other women who speak up about domestic violence.
