If you followed the shocking story of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s dramatic fall from grace, you’ll want to put this new docuseries on your must-watch list. Titled Ghislaine Maxwell: Epstein’s Shadow, it’s now available to watch on Sky Documentaries.
The series examines the life of the British socialite and takes an in-depth look at her relationship with Epstein, a liaison that led to her arrest on the morning of 2nd July 2020. After months of staying out of the public eye following the death of Epstein in prison in 2019, Maxwell was arrested during an FBI raid on a secluded property in Bradford, New Hampshire. The series unpacks Maxwell’s alleged complicity in procuring young girls for Epstein's insatiable sexual appetite.
Emma Cooper, an executive producer on the series, told Sky News, "We wanted to tell the story of Ghislaine's life in the most comprehensive way that we could, which meant talking to people from her school, her later life, people who knew her father, people who worked with her father, people who knew her on the scene in New York, to get a really comprehensive picture of who she is. Maxwell is the daughter of the late newspaper tycoon Robert Maxwell who was found dead in the Atlantic Ocean in 1991, close to the yacht he had named after her, the Lady Ghislaine.
Fifty-nine-year-old Maxwell has pleaded not guilty to all the sex trafficking charges brought against her. She is currently being held in a New York jail ahead of her trial which is set to take place in July. She faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted.
