Oscar winning actor Matthew McConaughey has posted an inspirational message of hope on his Instagram page encouraging the world to unite in the fight against the coronavirus.
The 50-year-old actor called for solidarity in the face of the pandemic, telling his followers: "Hey everybody, McConaughey here, just want to say that in these crazy times that we're in with the coronavirus, let's take care of ourselves and each other. Let's not go to the lowest common denominator and get paranoid. Let's do our due diligence, take the precautions we need to take care of ourselves and those of us around us. Right now, more than ever before, we're all more dependent on each other than we ever have been.”
In giving his personal thoughts on the economic impact the virus will have across the globe he went on to say: "So, in this time when people are going to move on, the economy is going to be in shambles for who knows how long, there is a green light on the other side of this red light that we're in right now. I believe that green light is going to be built upon the values that we can enact right now. Values of fairness, kindness, accountability, resilience, respect, courage."
He ended by saying: "So, yes, let's see if we can make some lemonade out of this lemon that we're living in the middle of. Turn a red light into a green light and just keep living."
McConaughey is married to Brazilian model and designer, Camila Alves, they have three children together, a son born in 2008, a daughter born in 2010, and a second son was born in 2012.
As a Christian actor in Hollywood, McConaughey started the just keep livin foundation, which is "dedicated to helping teenagers lead active lives and make healthy choices to become great men and women".
