From his home country of Norway, acclaimed Game of Thrones actor, Kristofer Hivju has revealed he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Taking to Instagram he shared the news with his followers by posting a picture of himself and his wife, Gry Molvaer.
The post read: “Greetings from Norway. Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID-19, Coronavirus. My family and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. I only have mild symptoms of a cold. There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading.”
Best known for playing the roles of Tormund Giantsbane in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones and Connor Rhodes in The Fate of the Furious, Hivju said both he and his family are “in good health” as of now. He went on to urge his followers to look out for one another during the pandemic writing: “Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals. Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy,” he wrote. “Please visit your country’s Center for Disease Control’s website, and follow the regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves, but our entire community, and especially those at risk like the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions.”
Hivju’s announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that British actor Idris Alba tested positive for the virus on Monday. Alba said on Twitter, “ I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.”
On Sunday former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko announced that she was tested and found to have the coronavirus. Kurylenko, who starred as Camille Montes opposite Daniel Craig in the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace, said on Instagram, "Locked up at home after having tested positive for Coronavirus."
