Police have released a statement saying that the 64-year-old father of rapper Nicki Minaj has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in New York. Nassau County Police said in the report that Robert Maraj was walking along a road in Mineola on Long Island at 6:15 p.m. Friday when he was struck by a car that just kept going. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have asked for any witnesses to the fatal crash to come forward. First reported on TMZ, Robert was apparently taken to an area hospital in a critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away over the weekend.
Unfortunately, the Homicide Squad investigating the case say that there was no decent description of the suspect vehicle provided.
The death of Minaj’s father comes just four months after she welcomed her first child, a son, into the world. She is yet to comment on her father's passing.
