CBS scoops first post-Megxit interview

Oprah Winfrey at the 2018 nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan

A day after announcing that they are expecting their second child comes news that Prince Harry and Meghan will give their first interview since stepping down from royal duties when they talk to Oprah Winfrey early next month.

CBS said on social media that the interview will air March 7.

The US media giant went on to say in an official statement: "Winfrey will speak with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure.

"Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family."

In response, Buckingham Palace has said it would not be commenting on the Sussexes' decision to do the Oprah interview.

As the duke and duchess are no longer working members of the Royal Family, they are under no obligation to inform the Royal Household of any of their plans.

Harry and Meghan married at Windsor Castle in 2018, longtime pal Oprah Winfrey, was in attendance. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world when they announced on the 8th January last year that they would be stepping down as senior members of the royal family.

The couple then moved to Southern California with baby Archie, bought an estate in Montecito for over R212 million, and signed a multi-year production deal with Netflix, a major part of their plan to make a living for themselves beyond the constraints of ‘The Firm”.

Monday, this photograph of a pregnant Meghan, was posted by the couple on social media.

The couple's official announcement didn't offer any details, only stating that "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."
