MultiChoice’s dynamic head of content has died due to coronavirus complications.
It was with great sadness that the media giant announced on July 13th that she had passed away due to coronavirus complications.
As MultiChoice’s head of content and third-party channels, Alberts was a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
She was involved in television production, television branding and marketing, content management, and television business management for over twenty-two years. Her career in television started as a production secretary in the late 80s. She soon graduated to assistant producer and then producer. After ten years of working on South Africa’s biggest live productions and award-winning variety shows she accepted a position as programme manager of SABC2.
Two years later she was appointed as general manager of SABC2. Under her direction, the channel doubled its viewership. She went on to join MultiChoice in 2006 as general manager of content becoming one of Africa’s most powerful and highly respected TV executives.
May you RIP Aletta Alberts.
