Following the airing of the explosive Leaving Neverland documentary, in which two young men claim they were molested by the pop star as children, Transport for London has come under fire for placing adverts on its buses that proclaim Michael Jackson’s innocence.
The adverts are being paid for by a crowdfunding initiative of MJ supporters, they appear on the city’s iconic double-decker buses across the city and are said to have cost nearly R380 000. They feature Michael ’s face with the word "innocent" over his mouth, along with the slogan: "Facts don't lie. People do."
In the Leaving Neverland documentary, Wade Robson and James Safechuck give harrowing and often graphic testimony as to what they allege happened during their time spent at Neverland as children.
The Survivors Trust, an organisation which supports victims of rape and child sexual abuse, told Sky News that the adverts were "really inappropriate" and called for Transport for London to remove them. The campaign is reportedly being fronted by former Big Brother UK contestant and Michael Jackson fan Seany O'Kane.
