The Knysna Oyster Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, will continue until Sunday.
The festival started on 30 June and locals and tourists from around the country have descended upon the picturesque shores of Knysna for a feast of fun, food, and festivities.
Knysna’s deputy mayor Alberto Marti says the festival is a huge financial injection for the town.
“The financial impact is significant as the event draws many people to the town. Local businesses benefit from the festival.”
Marti says he hopes that visitors enjoy the festival and celebrate the 40th event.
This year’s theme is “Have a whale of a time”, and it was chosen because the festival coincides with the thrilling whale-watching season in Knysna, which adds an extra layer of excitement and wonder to the event.
Visitors can witness the majestic beauty of these magnificent creatures while immersing themselves in the festivities. But more than that, the ‘whale of a time theme signifies the abundance of activities available throughout the festival.
Meanwhile, runners are getting ready for the annual Knysna Forest Marathon.
The Knysna Forest Marathon features many unique highlights that cannot be found in any other trail run in the world.
True to its name, most of the route runs deep into the Knysna Forest with breathtaking views over the estuary and even the iconic Knysna Heads, a great distraction to get you through those last few kilometres.
The Knysna Wine Festival takes place this Saturday at Premier Resort, The Moorings.
Over 200 wines from more than 50 different wine estates can be tasted.
