It’s an historic occasion for the City of Cape Town as they get ready to host their first-ever crowning of Miss South Africa.
The top ten are already in the fair city to take in the tourist sites, meet the Mayor and other important folk and do production shoots ahead of the grand finale on Saturday, October 24.
The pageant finale will see Miss South Africa 2020 crowned at an event the organisers say will be both “ spectacular and entertainment-packed” – it will be screened live on M-Net and Mzansi Magic and streamed for international viewers.
Cape Town Executive Mayor Dan Plato has been accompanying the finalists on some of their excursions, he took to Facebook to say how pleased the City of Cape Town is to be partnering with the Miss South Africa Organisation. He also offered some words of encouragement and hope saying, “We are aware this is happening while the entire world is still reeling from an unprecedented pandemic, but we believe proceeding with events such as Miss South Africa, will provide hope and shine a light on our country’s beauty and female leaders during this period. We look forward to welcoming all the participants, officials and performers to our city for what is to be one of Cape Town’s first major hybrid productions.”
CEO of the Miss South Africa Organisation, Stephanie Weil is calling the City of Cape Town the “11th contestant” this year.
The top ten finalists vying for the top three places and the ultimate prize of the Miss South Africa title includes two homegrown beauties in the form of Aphelele Mbiyo who was born in Mthatha and Melissa Nayimuli from Butterworth.
