Two British national treasures in the form of Sir David Attenborough and Dame Joan Collins are the latest UK celebrities to have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The world-famous naturalist followed on Dame Joan Collins and the Queen and her hubby Phillip at the weekend.
87-year-old Dame Joan Collins said on Instagram,” Delighted to get @astrazeneca @ouhospitals #vaccine yesterday morning at the @nhsenglandldn Bloomsbury surgery - thank you Mr. @rajgill2585 and @dr_ammarahughes for a painless and seamless procedure! Same day as our Queen! #honoured #registernow

Attenborough, 94, has previously said that our planet “hangs in the balance.” While acknowledging the immense suffering caused by the pandemic he has raised concerns that it would take the focus away from the pressing issue of climate change.
In a Twitter post last October he stated that his documentary Life on our Planet “should be compulsory viewing for all children and adults alike.”

There are two vaccines currently in use in the UK - one from Pfizer/BioNTech, the other from Oxford/AstraZeneca.
