Despite the coronation of King Charles III being the first since 1953, and despite it marking the beginning of a new era for the United Kingdom, a recent YouGov poll has revealed a lack of enthusiasm for the event.

The survey of more than 3000 people published Friday has indicated that many do not care about it.

The results revealed that 35%  “do not care very much” about the historic occasion, 29% said they “do not care at all while “24% said they care “a fair amount”, and only 9% said they care “a great deal”.

In spite of this, 46% said they will probably watch the coronation or take part in related festivities.

After the long and prosperous reign of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III takes the throne on May 6 amidst a changing political landscape and global challenges. There is no denying that he has big shoes to fill.

The coronation ceremony itself is steeped in tradition and history, with many elements dating back centuries, it will reflect the rich history and cultural heritage of the United Kingdom.

The 2,000 invited guests to the Coronation Service at the historic Westminster Abbey have each received a personalized invitation, hand-finished by a small team of calligraphers.

In celebration, Monday the 8th of May has been declared a public holiday across the country.
