K-pop star Moonbin, a member of the popular Korean boy band Astro, has died at the age of 25, his music label Fantagio announced Thursday.
According to various reports, Moonbin was found unresponsive on Wednesday evening, April 19, in his apartment in the upmarket Gangnam neighborhood of Seoul. No foul play is suspected and no cause of death has been released.
The young South Korean singer, dancer, and actor was best known as a member of the popular K-pop group ASTRO, which debuted in 2016 under the entertainment agency Fantagio.
Fantagio released a statement via their official Twitter page in Korean expressing their devastation at the unexpected loss. The statement ended by asking fans to refrain from speculative or malicious reports.
As a member of ASTRO, Moonbin gained popularity for his smooth vocals, impressive dance skills, and charming personality. The group's debut EP "Spring Up" was a success, with its title track "Hide & Seek" receiving positive reviews for its upbeat and catchy tune. Since then, the group has released numerous chart-topping hits, including "Breathless," "All Night," and "One."
Moonbin also showcased his acting skills in various dramas and web series. In 2019, he starred in the romantic web series "My Romantic Some Recipe" alongside fellow ASTRO member, JinJin. He has also appeared in several Korean dramas, including "The Mermaid Prince: The Beginning" and "Moment at Eighteen."
