The pint-sized canine named Patron has been awarded a medal by President Zelensky for having detected more than 200 explosives in the Ukrainian war.
The presidental leader described Patron, a diminutive Jack Russell terrier, as "a wonderful little sapper"(a military engineer).
Patron's sniffer dog skills have prevented innumerous injuries and deaths, he has subsequently become a “canine symbol of Ukrainian patriotism."
He was presented with his medal by both President Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a news conference in Kyiv.
