Andy Warhol's famous silk-screen portrait of Marilyn Monroe has sold for $195 million at auction (R3 140 104 500,00) – a world record for 20th-century art.
It is one of a series of portraits Warhol made of the icon following her death in 1962 and has become one of the art world's most well-known pieces.
It had been part of a collection of Swiss art dealers Thomas and Doris Ammann, before being sold by Christie's in New York
