Tributes have begun to pour in as news spreads of the untimely death of the popular Afrikaans actress at the age of 50. According to various reports, Franci died in her sleep and was found on Sunday morning, October 17.
The cause of her death is not yet known.
A graduate of the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department, she starred in numerous Afrikaans TV shows, films, and stage productions, one of her most notable roles being that of Toeks Jobert in the kykNET soapie Binnelanders.
Swanepoel was multitalented and was also an Afrikaans TV presenter, news reader, producer, and director.
Fellow actress Liz Meiring said of the late Swanepoel on Twitter : “Die briljante en geliefde aktrise , tv , film en teater veteraan ( al was sy skaars 50) Franci Swanepoel is laasnag in haar slaap oorlede. The agency Talent. etc. captioned their post, “You will be loved and missed until the end of time.”
