Abba surprised fans by delivering an impromptu performance of their single 'Me and I' on Sunday at a private gala in Stockholm.
The Guardian reports that the performance was set up to mark 50 years since Bj?rn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson met for the first time.
The performance video has not been released but pics of the performance can be found one social media. The performance surprised fans the world round. The last time Abba performed as a group was in 1982. Despite occasional individual performances since then, the group decided not to reunite for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Part of the reason according to Andersson was that Agnetha would not fly, so the possibility of her getting to New York was out of the question.
The 'Me and I' performance did not seem planned at all. It began with Anni-Frid Lyngstadon and Agnetha F?ltskog reciting 'Me and I' as a tribute to the songwriting duo, before Bj?rn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson join them to make the reunion official.
According to Lyngstad, the reunion was "absolutely amazing. A lot of emotions. We've made this journey throughout our history. Benny and Bj?rn in particular. It's been very nostalgic."
"We took a break in '82 and it was meant to be a break. "Ulvaeus said in 2014. "It's still a break and will remain so. You'll never see us on stage again."
And so the nostalgia of the day and of the memories brought alive by old videos of their performances that make you long for a time you never experienced, will live on forever.
