New York City police are investigating are investigating claims that officers were ordered to shoot the rapper 50 Cent "on sight".
Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez, who commands the 72nd precinct in Brooklyn, allegedly made the comment in a roll call in June of last year.
In response, 50 Cent said Mr Gonzalez was a "dirty cop abusing his power", and a "gangsta with a badge".
According to Sky News, the NYPD is reviewing the matter internally. The incident was not recorded and it was reported in the New York Daily News that Mr Gonzalez tried to pass the remark off as a joke.
