A Zimbabwean woman has been sentenced to 10- years imprisonment following her conviction for smuggling explosives worth R1.2 million into South Africa.
Captain Matimba Maluleke, says 38-year-old Linda Katiyo was en route from Zimbabwe to Gauteng in April last year when she arrived at the
Beitbridge Port of entry with a suspicious-looking bag.
The border police became suspicious and thoroughly searched the bag and found the miscellaneous explosives used for illegal mining.
Maluleke says she was immediately arrested and made several court appearances without getting bail.
She was sentenced on Thursday at the Musina Regional court in Limpopo.
