A Western Cape grandfather who raped and sexually assaulted his grandchildren has been sentenced to 30-years in prison in the Parow Regional Court on Thursday.
The 56-year-old man walked naked in front of the two children, aged five and nine, and touched them inappropriately while they were taking a bath.
The incident happened in February 2017 while the two sisters visited their grandmother and the accused on an overnight stay as their parents were busy relocating.
The eldest daughter told her mother that the accused had touched her private parts and inserted his finger while she was bathing.
She also said that she had seen the accused doing the same to her little sister.
The man who cannot be named to protect the identity of the children was found guilty and convicted on two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of flashing.
He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for both counts of sexual assault, 20-years for both counts of rape and five years for both counts of flashing.
The man testified in his own defence in court where he denied any wrongdoing.
