A 29-year-old woman accused of murdering a United States consulate worker is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The 41-year-old man was stabbed to death in his Illovo flat on Sunday morning.
He was named in media reports as Christopher Bates.
He had worked as an information management officer at the Johannesburg consulate from 2010.
On Monday, Gauteng police said a security guard heard a woman screaming and, when he went to check, he allegedly saw the woman with a knife in her hand and Bates with several stab wounds in his upper body.
He died on the scene.
The motive for the murder is unknown.
