A 29-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Brits Magistrates' Court on Friday, in connection with the alleged murder of her newborn baby.
Police said according to information the woman gave birth at home in Sunway in Rietfontein, Hartbeesportdam, on Friday,.
“It is alleged that the suspect placed the newborn baby in boiling water, then wrapped the baby in plastic and buried it in a shallow grave at a nearby field,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda Funani.
She said the mother later confided in her friend about the incident, who alerted the police.
The suspect was arrested and charged with murder.
