The man accused of shooting top Cape Town cop, Charl Kinnear, has been denied bail in the Belville Regional Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority said the matter against the alleged shooter, Zane Killian, was postponed on Thursday for further investigation.
NPA Western Cape spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, said the defence indicated that they intend launching for an urgent bail appeal at the high court.
He said he State would oppose this application in the high court.
Ntabazalila says the NPA welcomes the decision to deny him bail, adding that it’s a is afternoon's decision as it is a step towards ensuring justice for the late Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear even though there is still a long way to go in the matter.
The anti-gang unit member was gunned down in his car last September after arriving at his home in Bishop Lavis.
Killian, a former rugby player, was arrested in the same month.
