Woman arrested at OR Tambo for "blocks" of drugs worth millions

A 39-year-old woman will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on Tuesday after she was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The woman was en-route to Cape Town from Sao Paolo via OR Tambo when drugs worth an estimated R3.3 million rand was found in her luggage.

According to customs officials, her check-in luggage was intercepted by members of the South African Revenue Services and taken to an area to be searched.

The woman denied having checked in any luggage, but upon searching it, three blocks of drugs were found.

The blocks were wrapped in plastic and then further wrapped in blankets.
