Investigators from the Zondo Commission into State Capture have begun a probe into claims by the whistle-blower, Angelo Agrizzi, that some journalists were paid by his former company Bosasa.
In his evidence on Monday morning, Agrizzi mentioned a person named Ntuli, Pinky Khoabane, and someone in the Eastern Cape known only as 'Bongs'.
Khoabane immediately took to Twitter to deny knowing Agrizzi and saying that she would apply to cross-examine at the hearing.
Agrizzi said the journalists were handled by Papa Leshabane, a Bosasa spokesperson and that payments began around 2012.
He said Bosasa also employed media consultants, Benedicta Dube and Stephen Laufer to run a campaign to counter negative reporting about Bosasa.
Agrizzi said threats were also made against the journalists who have written stories about Bosasa and its corrupt activities such as Adriaan Basson.
