Widespread rains brought welcome relief to the Eastern Cape last night after weeks of hot, sunny conditions parched the province.
The heaviest rainfalls were at Willomore which measured 24.2 millimetres up until eight o'clock this morning.
Coega measured 21.4 millimetres, Fort Beaufort measured 20.8 millimetres, and Somerset East 20.4.
Uitenhage received 18.4 millimetres, Grahamstown 15.6, George 14.5, Port Elizabeth 13.6 and East London 13.4 millimetres.
Widespread showers are forecast for the entire Eastern Cape today.
There is a weather warning for heavy rain over the eastern parts of the province today and tomorrow.
