WC police beef up deployments after six people killed on Cape Flats

File

Police in the Western Cape have “reinforced deployments” in the Bishop Lavis area after six people were shot and killed on Thursday night.

Two other people were also wounded in the shooting at around 20.40.

Brigadier Novela Potelwa said an armed suspect entered an informal dwelling in Kogelberg Street in Bishop Lavis on Thursday night and opened fire, killing six people and wounding two others.

The victims were aged between 24 and 55.

She said cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated by the anti-gang unit and no arrests have yet been made.

The latest shooting comes after five people were killed and five others were wounded when gunmen opened fire on people in three cars in Atlantis on Wednesday night as they were returning from the beach.
