Breakthrough in Algoa Bus employee murder


A dedicated group of detectives involved in the investigation into the murder of an employee at the Algoa Bus Company has made a breakthrough in the case.

Police arrested a 48-year-old suspect who is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates court on Friday afternoon.

According to information gathered on the scene, the deceased, Timothy Botha, 53, arrived at the depot at Perl Road, Korsten, at approximately 07:00.

A security guard on duty is said to have heard multiple gunshots being fired in the parking lot.

In a statement, police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said: "The guard activated his panic alarm but did not see anything. When it was quiet, he found the deceased with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body."

During the investigation, the detectives gathered information and identified one of the suspects allegedly involved in the murder. 

The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday in Kwazakhele. 

According to Janse Van Rensburg the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
