A 62 year-old man is fighting for his life in a Bethlehem Hospital after a near drowning in a river in Senekal in the Free State late last night.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks says the man had attended a Valentine's Day function and after the revelry had been riding in a golf cart.
He lost control of the cart and landed in the river.
Wicks says a doctor who happened to be in the vicinity attended to the man before he was taken to hospital by paramedics.
