Two men caught breaking into a Soweto school have been killed by angry community members.
The Department of Basic Education said that the attempted break-in at the school came after Personal Protective Clothing had been delivered to the school.
Spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga, says two schools in Kwazulu Natal were also burgled in recent days and all the PPE’s delivered to them had been stolen.
Minister Angie Motshekga met with the Council of Education Ministers on Tuesday to assess the readiness of schools to receive learners in Grades 7 and 12 on the first of June.
The Department’s appealed to communities to protect their schools but should not take the law into their own hands.
