Two people have died and several others injured following yet another head-on collision in the Eastern Cape.
The crash took place on Saturday afternoon on the N2 in Mount Ayliff towards Kokstad.
Provincial Transport Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said the collision involved a Toyota light delivery vehicle, which was driving towards Kokstad, and a minibus taxi with one male driver that was coming from Mount Ayliff.
He said there were 15 occupants in the Toyota including the driver.
Both vehicles collided head-on.
Binqose said two occupants in the Toyota died on the scene; the male driver and an adult female.
He said five other occupants were in a critical condition while nine others were seriously injured and were all rushed to hospital.
The injured included two children and the driver of the minibus taxi.
Binqose said it’s alleged that reckless and the negligent driving could be the main contributing factor for the accident.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
