Police in Ekuhurleni arrested two people at a funeral in Kwa Thema on Saturday.
Attention was drawn to the funeral when one of the men attending, started firing shots during the funeral procession.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters says the suspect was arrested and his firearm confiscated.
The gun will also be sent for ballistic testing to see if it was used in the commission of another crime.
Peters says while they were making the arrest they noticed that the funeral exceeded the number of people who are allowed to attend.
A member of the bereaved family who organised the funeral was arrested.
The two will appear in court soon where they will be charged with for firing a gun in a municipal area as well as contravening the Disaster Management Act.
