A teenager who went drinking at a local tavern with her two friends and a couple on Friday discovered she was raped when she woke up naked in a room the following morning.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the group, including the victim's boyfriend, went out drinking at a tavern in Northam outside Thabazimbi in the Waterberg District in Limpopo, when they all left, intoxicated, to someone's house where they all slept in the same room.
He says the following morning, the 15-year-old's boyfriend woke up early and left her to sleep, but at 5 am the victim woke up naked.
She told police she was shocked to find a naked man on top of her, without her consent and realised she had been sexually violated.
Colonel Ledwaba says a case of rape was reported at the local police station and the docket was transferred to the Thabazimbi Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit for investigations.
He says they managed to trace and arrest the 29-year-old suspect. He suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
