Five suspects arrested for the attempted murder of Cape Town lawyer, William Booth, appeared in absentia, in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court on Friday.
The two women and three men are being charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of ammunition as well as contravening the Disaster Management Act.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority for the Western Cape Eric Ntabazalila says the suspects appeared in absentia due to the Disaster Management Regulations.
The case against the 32-year-old Riyaad Gesant, 32-year-old Kim Smith, 35-year-old Kauthar Brown, 36-year-old Ebrahim Deare and the 57-year-old Igsaan Williams was postponed to the 22nd of May.
Ntabazalila says this is to allow for four of the accused to get legal aid.
Prominent Defence Lawyer William Booth was shot at while in his garage at his home in Cape Town on the 9th of April.
The 65-year-old was unharmed.
